Armadillo Removal

Wildlife Control in the Kansas City Metro Area

Armadillos are becoming more and more common in the Kansas City area. When we began Catch-It Wildlife & Pest Control, Inc. in 1989 and even up into the 2000’s, it was rare to have an armadillo call. However, in the past 5 years we have begun to see a marked increase in the number of armadillo calls as they are migrating into, and reproducing within, our area.

Armadillo’s have few natural predators as their armor plating/shell makes them hard to kill – yet their bellies are vulnerable. One of the biggest threats to armadillos are vehicles (you probably are aware of this from seeing armadillo roadkill on the side of the road – especially if you travel south as they are more prolific in the south). Armadillos’ eyes do not reflect light in the same way that other animals (e.g. deer and raccoons) do, which makes them almost impossible to see at night on a roadway.

You should be aware of the damage that this species can cause in your yard, landscaping, or garden. It’s amazing what one of these little guys can do! Armadillos are excellent diggers. They will tear up the sod looking for earthworms, grubs, and any other invertebrate they can find to devour. Flowerbeds are another area where they love to look for other insects to eat.

We only have one species of armadillo currently in the Kansas City metro area: the Nine Banded Armadillo.

Trapping is the most effective and humane way to control this species. We offer humane trapping.

“I've been using Steve and Catch-it for 20+ yrs for our suburban home in KC. They are top-notch, professional, effective, and all-around very good at what they do. They have helped catch and remove moles, voles, and raccoons from our yard. I would highly recommend Catch-it!"

“When we called, we actually spoke with the owner. Stephen was very knowledgeable, kind, and polite! They were very quick to come out and take care of our mole problem. We couldn't be happier! They will be our first call for any rodent/pest problem next time"

Jill Jackson

“The folks at Catch-it are great! Used them 3 or 4 times. Recommended to me by my mother who has used them for 15 years for moles, yelllow jacket bees, moles, bats and a snake. Never know what critter we have to deal with. They are my go to company when the moles attack my yard! Thank goodness the raccoon I had in my house left peacefully with no damage. He came down the chimney on the 2nd night my chimney cap had blown off. I highly recommend Catch-it!"

Tina Carte

“We had some moles tearing up our yard and Catch It Wildlife & Pest helped clear our yard and were very responsive and helpful! 10/10 would recommend"

In Grandview, Missouri, this little armadillo was causing a mess through digging. I’m sure it was looking forward to being relocated to a nice, safe — and less muddy — place where it can dig to its heart’s content.
